One of the coolest fights in nature occurs when two competing rams collide their massive horns. The images are so graphic and powerful, they probably convinced the Chrysler Corporation to change the name of their Dodge truck line to “Ram.” A football player who bangs his head on the ground after a tackle can receive a concussion even with the additional protection of a highly technical helmet. Rams collide bone-to-bone and the impact is tremendous.
Who Whitetail Fight
Whitetail bucks fight by pushing and shoving, somewhat like wild sheep. As the rut progresses, whitetail bucks build muscles by pushing against trees, often removing the bark. Whitetail antlers have points that can easily puncture a rival’s lungs or stomach, an injury that’s often fatal. Bucks try to turn their rivals sideways where their vitals and tender stomach are exposed.
