Muzzleloading seasons are on the horizon. Although many occur in late fall, now is a great time to break out that “front-loader” and make sure that everything works… lock, stock, and barrel. After all, taking a couple of pesky groundhogs is a great summer tuneup for fall.
If you need a bit of motivation to launch your muzzleloading frenzy, this 90-second video from CVA will surely do the trick. It plays on one of the most memorable scenes in the film Jeremiah Johnson.
CVA recently posted a 90 second tribute video on You Tube that was inspired by the 1972 film classic Jeremiah Johnson. The video recreates one of the movie’s most popular scenes, the one in which Jeremiah stumbles upon the frozen corpse of Hatchet Jack and thereby obtains the rifle of his dreams – a .50 caliber Hawken. However, CVA puts a unique twist into its version, which really must be seen to be appreciated.
According to Dudley McGarity, CEO of BPI Outdoors, owner of the CVA brand, the idea for the video was derived from the reverence that so many hunters still have for the movie, and the degree to which the film spawned interest for the sport of muzzleloading back in the 1970’s. “I can clearly recall the first time I saw the movie,” McGarity stated, “and from that point on I was hooked on muzzleloading rifles and the heritage that they represent. It is our hope that this video will introduce the film to a new generation of hunters and that they too will be similarly inspired.”
