Moose are the largest member of the deer family, yet their young have little defense against predators like bears and wolves.
An outfitter at the NRA Great American Outdoors Show once shared a picture with me; the photo showed the remains of a moose female with triplets, all killed and partially eaten by a grizzly. Now, you might assume that grizzly bears would be the primary animal predator targeting moose. It only makes sense. Yet black bears can easily take down a moose, as this video demonstrates.
