The biggest challenge hunters face when it comes to keeping their meat from tasting bad is getting the animal cooled down quickly.
If you can get the animal in a walk-in cooler almost immediately, a lot of the worry is gone. But even then you need to get the chest cavity open. You can use a stick that will break, or you can try out this solution instead.
