As winter begins to wane, may hunters can’s wait to get into the woods, whether to look for shed antlers, hunt mushrooms, or turkey hunt. Pent up anxiety partially drives this mobility because it just feels great to be outside and near tree stands and ground blinds that have special memories. Why not create a mineral spot?
Late winter is an ideal time to set up a mineral spot which can be one of the first steps toward that big buck in the fall. Mineral sites are easy to set up, take very little equipment, and minerals, in general, are inexpensive. Posting a trail camera is part of the fun. You’ll be checking how many deer are in your area and possibly catch the first velvet antlers of the year.
