The National Shooting Sports Foundation does a great job with this video, emphasizing the smallness of a shotgun pattern at close range. Although the video is meant for self- and home defense, it’s equally important for turkey hunters to see, since Spring gobblers often slip in silently on hunters who must then shoot at point-blank range.
You’ll enjoy the graphic demonstrations of shotgun patterning and with a bit of imagination, easily transpose those actions to the turkey woods. You’ll soon learn why it’s best not to let an inquisitive gobbler get too close.
