Every outdoor minded person has dreamed of living in Alaska and enjoying the tremendous hunting and fishing adventures the state has to offer. For many, the drawback is finding a job, even a temporary one, until they can find full-time employment in their specialty or work their way up the corporate ladder. Cabela’s, one of the best-known names in outdoor gear, is opening a store in Anchorage and is advertising for jobs. If you want to act on that Alaska ambition, here are the details:
Cabela’s Incorporated, the world’s foremost outfitter of hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear, plans to hire approximately 250 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff its Anchorage store, which is on schedule to open in spring 2014. Interviews will begin Jan. 3 and continue through Jan. 7. Most employees are expected to come from Anchorage and the surrounding area. “We have a wide range of open positions and are looking for hard-working employees who can deliver the legendary customer service customers have come to expect from Cabela’s,” said Kevin Weeks, general manager of the new store. The 100,000-square-foot store, to be located on the south side of Anchorage near the intersection of W. 104th Avenue and C Street, will be Cabela’s first in Alaska.
It will be built in Cabela’s next-generation layout designed to surround customers in an outdoor experience with museum-quality wildlife displays, a mountain replica and aquarium. The store also will also feature a Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop, as well as thousands of quality outdoor products.
