Hunting with WWII tanks isn’t for everybody (maybe anybody) yet this unique opportunity exemplifies the incredible diversity of adventures offered at this year’s Safari Club International Convention held in Las Vegas February 1-4. All this week, I’ll be posting from the SCI convention and will try to capture some of the most interesting hunts from North America and from around the world. I won’t be posting from inside a tank or firing one, yet how cool would that be?
North American Hunts of Lifetime
The SCI convention is the perfect place to turn that bucket list of “someday” hunts into an exciting reality as you walk the halls, ogle at the most incredible taxidermy displays on earth and talk with the men and women who transform dreams into reality. Are you thinking of a Canadian whitetail hunt where bucks grow to body weights of 300 pounds and larger? Maybe an Alaskan moose hunt where the minimum antler width is 50 inches and the potential is two feet wider? Maybe a black or brown bear hunt through a wide variety of hunting tactics?
King of Conservation
Safari Club International is equally about conservation and hunter rights. The theme “First for Hunters” hits the bulls-eye squarely as this organization works across North America and around the world to boost species population and support the right to hunt them. Anti-hunting organizations are well funded and love frivolous litigation that place roadblocks in the path of hunter rights. Safari Club International provides a solid national and international defense of sporting men and women.
Guns, Art, and more
Have you ever held a hand checkered double-rifle that’s valued over $100,000? Or, seen carvings and painting from international masters? The SCI Convention has artwork that will take your breath including multi-animal taxidermy displays that are truly magnificent. If you can’t make a last minute trip to Las Vegas, you can participate in one or more of their on-line auctions in which outfitters and artists donate their services to support SCI Conservation programs.
