52 years after introducing its first pump-action shotgun to the world, manufacturers Mossberg & Sons are commemorating the recent production of its ten millionth Mossberg 500 pump-action shotgun, making the model the fastest-selling shotgun of all time.
After remaining virtually unchanged from its initial design for more than 30 years, the company introduced 16- and 20-gauge versions of the shotgun, eventually adding additional configurations especially designed for military, law enforcement, and conservation groups. The device is well-regarded today for its ambidextrous top-mounted safety, which the company touts as “the feature that every shooter wants.”
