Robinson Outdoors President Scott Schultz explains how the new Pnuma baselayer works through a strategic design.

Pnuma Introduces Affordable High-Tech Hunting Clothing

The secret is finally out. Four months ago, I was privy to a very private showing on the Pnuma’s (new-ma) new high-tech hunting clothes, including a totally new pattern. Unlike other premium brands that can cost $1,000 per set, this line is ordered directly online, reducing cost by 60 percent. Scott Schultz is president of Robinson Outdoors (the ScentBlocker folks) and a key player in the development of the new product. He asked one of the hunters to wear the new base layer so that he could demonstrate the quality of the new product.

The new Pnuma baselayer is strategically designed to provide muscle support and keep you warm in some areas, cool in others.

“Pnuma is built to be the best hunting apparel in the world,” Schultz explains. “We went to Italy, where we used two specialized machines to develop a series of knitted swatches that combine for the ultimate base layer. It includes body mapping for thermal regulation, antimicrobial treatment, heavy wicking, and muscle support using the finest worsted Merino wool available. Compression from the garment is strategic, so that it supports muscles in some areas and resists in others. Scientifically, it’s more of a hug than a squeeze.”
