Video: Pennsylvania Black Bear Forecast

Pennsylvania is one of the nation’s leading states for black bears, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission depends on hunters to keep the state’s bear population in check. The Keystone state is blessed with millions of acres of public lands, so finding a place to hunt isn’t difficult. More importantly, Pennsylvania produces huge bears and bruins of 500–600 lbs. (and higher!) are taken annually. If a trophy bear is one of your aspirations, you can spend thousands of dollars on hunts in Canada or just a few hundred for a trip to Pennsylvania’s woods. Driving is a popular and effective method for black bears, which allows you to include your whole gang in the fun. It’s also easy to get invited into a group, as most are always looking for hunters in good shape.

This 2.5-minute video gives an excellent overview of where, when, and how to hunt black bears in Pennsylvania. With the season opener on Saturday, November 23, it’s not too late to buy a license and make the hunt. For hunting details, go to www.pgc.state.pa.us.
