I might be a proud hunter, but I’m not too proud to say that my wife, Lotte, out-hunted me this past turkey season in Missouri. While I saw plenty of birds, I was never able to let an arrow fly. But my wife had shot opportunities twice, and she made them both count.
On our first morning out, Lotte was able to harvest a mature tom weighing 22 1/2 lbs., with a 10 1/2-inch beard and 1 1/4-inch spurs.
On day three her second bird took a dirt nap. This bird weighed about 3 lbs. more than the first, but the beard was about an inch shorter.

Catch the entire hunt on Total Outdoor Pursuit TV, airing on the Hunt Channel, Dish 266, at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 1.
