Maryland Hunters Launch "Blaze Orange Day" in Support of Sunday Hunting

Nearly a hundred hunters decked out in camouflage and wearing blaze orange caps try to stir up support for Sunday hunting.
What a great idea! The weather is cold, most hunting seasons are over, and politicians are making decisions about our ability to hunt and fish. Why not dawn camouflage and blaze orange and hold a political rally… even pass out orange hats for legislators to wear and show their support?
Maryland held their first “Blaze Orange Day” rally in support of Sunday hunting and it was very successful and a very visual event that was covered by all regional newspapers, from The Washington Post to The Baltimore Sun. Let’s make “Blaze Orange Day” a national holiday! Just kidding, but here are the details of this very cool idea.
Maryland is one of the last states not to allow hunting on Sunday statewide.
It is Blaze Orange Day in Annapolis. About a hundred hunters decked out in camouflage and wearing blaze orange caps were at the State House meeting with lawmakers.
They are seeking legislation to allow Sunday hunting in Baltimore County, one of three counties where Sunday hunting is banned. Leaders of the Maryland Horseman’s Council oppose it, noting the hunting may lead to accidents where hunters shoot horses, but Alan Ellis, executive director of the Maryland Hunting Coalition says that under Maryland law, private property owners can ban hunting on their property.
