Deer strikes may seem humorous until they happen to you and this quick video demonstrates just how quickly a driving situation can turn from ordinary to tragic. This mule deer has better timing than Michael Phelps as it just misses a car in one lane and than avoids hitting a police car by mere inches. I once had to travel a narrow road that was known for deer activity and chose to hug the “6” of a tractor and trailer believing that a deer could not possibly get between us. With only five or six car lengths between us, a doe and fawn ran full bore, like this mule deer, and made it across the highway. it happened so fast, there was no time to react. We can chcukle at how close a call this was, but also realize how quickly a running deer can enter our danger zone.
