Aguila ammunition is manufactured in North America and is one of the world’s leaders in the production of rimfire ammunition. Also, they produce the 12-gauge Minishell, a very unique shotgun offering than can dramatically increase the firepower of the standard shotgun magazine.
Three Options
Aquila Minishells come in three loades. Dove and clay shooters will enjoy the lower recoil and calmer report of the Minishell, a full one inch shorter than standard 2 3/4 loads. They offer a 5/8-ounce load of 7 1/2 shot at a speed of 1175 fps.
The Minishell really shines as a home defense round in double-0 Buckshot. An OOB pellet is the size of a 9mm bullet and each shell contains 12. Ponder that for a moment. It’s like having an entire SWAT team behind you, all firing at the same moment. Due to the decreased length of the Mini, you can launch a field of fire that no bad guy will challenge.
Finally,
Minishells come loaded with 7/8-oz slugs that fly at 1250 fps. In this video, you’ll see a test of a box of Minis that are 20 years old. I’m not sure why the folks making this YouTube post used such old ammunition. Personally, I would have loved to see them use the clay shot, 00B, and the slug with fresh ammo. Non-the less, it will act as an introduction to the unique shell that’s becoming more popular around the country.
