Coyotes are much smaller than whitetail deer, yet because they hunt in pairs or packs they’re capable of killing even mature bucks.
When wolves and coyotes chase deer and other ungulates, they snap at the animal’s hind legs, hoping to tear their prey’s achilles tendon. If this happens, like an injured football player, the animal cannot run; it will eventually fall victim to a slow and certain death.
