South Dakota is one of my favorite states to hunt and this video from Scout captures it all.
You’ll see Mark Kayser bump into a herd of mule deer, one of the really cool elements of any Great Plains hunt. South Dakota offers an “any deer” tag, so you don’t have to choose which type of deer you want before you hunt. Some states make a hunter choose the subspecies before the hunt and inevitably you stumble onto a whopper of another kind.
In the video, Kayser hunts the open prairie, which is vastly different from the hardwoods of the East. Enjoy this really cool hunt that doesn’t go as planned.
