Suppressors, or silencers, are commonplace, sometimes mandatory, when hunting in Europe and other parts of the world. But in the United States, they’re most often the tools of bad guys in gangster and spy movies.
Despite this negative connotation, they have a legitimate role in hunting by eliminating the need for hearing protection and reducing the sound of gunfire, often a problem in suburban areas. Suppressors are now legal for hunting in Alabama, and their use may be coming to your state.
