Hunting elk in Wyoming is one of life’s great adventures. Unlike most states, you don’t have to be in a rush, since you can hunt the full elk season with a bow (or crossbow), rifle, or muzzleloader.
If you can’t score in archery season (don’t forget your archery license), you can use the same license in rifle season. Unfortunately, the license application period is very early in the new year, January 1–30, a time when many sportsmen are just beginning to plan for next year.
Also, a reliable source indicates that you may need at least one preference point to draw a tag for 2016, even if you apply for the expensive drawing pool. The upcoming sports shows are a great way to book a hunt, yet don’t let the license deadline fall through the cracks.
In case you need a little motivation to get that paperwork going, check out this video captured on Stealthcam.
