The topic of killings wolves is one of the most controversial hunting topics currently on the grill in the United States. The argument ranges from the radical “Smoke a Pack a Day” or “Save and Elk, Eat A Wolf” to the idea that wolves are still in danger of extinction and should not be hunted.
In Mongolia, however, they take wolf hunting to a whole new level: They’re hunting wolves with eagles. The video below depicts just a single kill. The wolf is found via horseback and the eagle is then released.
This next video shows multiple kills, as well as the toughness and triumph of the regal bird.
The last video, while longer, sheds light on the rest of the story. The Mongolians normally hunt foxes with the golden eagles, as they pose less of a danger to their birds, one of their greatest assets. Wolves get into their cattle herds on occasion, which is not dissimilar to the problems they cause in the Western United States. When this happens, the hunters gather their birds to take out the threat against their cattle. It is common in Mongolian culture, yet here in America, a wolf kill is no little deal.
