Selecting the correct shot size and load combination is more science than you may think. Because shot scatters after leaving the muzzle, a shooter cannot predict exactly where a pellet will strike (as with a rifle), yet by choosing a shot shell that delivers a dense pattern, the probability of a killing pellet on a turkey in range is nearly certain.
