If you’re anything like us here at The Hunting Page, you still have an unused tag in your pack, but this isn’t the time to give up.
There is excellent hunting ahead, even now, if you play it right.
Reasons to persevere:
1 – Hunting pressure is low. A lot of hunters have tagged out or given up. This clears the woods and opens up your opportunities.
2 – A buck’s range drops drastically. While bucks are still rutting and travelling during the day, they won’t cover as much ground as before. Find their late season hideaway and food source and you’ll have better luck coming across them than you do at peak rut.
3 – Snow for tracking. This late in the year colder temperatures increase the chance of snow and tracks in it. Find where a buck is lingering in early winter snow and you’ve got the best tracking conditions plus with bucks sticking closer, this puts you in the round house
